Trip Overview

This 6 days Exploration of Legendary Ancient Cities small group tour brings you to three of the holiest historic cities under the Himalayas. Lhasa has been the politic, economic and culture center of Tibet for more than 1000 years, there you will visit many sacred and historic sites. No matter visit the landmark sites of Potala Palace and Johkang Temple, stroll on the bazaar-like Barkhor Street full of pilgrims, or step into a tranquil monastery of only sutra chanting, you can easily tell the difference of this awe-inspiring plateau holy city from others. Before strolling into the legendary ancient county of Gyantse, holy Yamdrok Lake on the way is the first nature masterpiece you can enjoy, seen from the Gangbala Pass, the lake like a turquoise long belt embedded on the Himalayas. Also halfway, Karola Glacier is the nearest of its kind, rising up into sky just besides the highway. Gyantse is quite a small yet distinctive county with strong Tibetan ambience, the characteristic local dwellings, the ruined ancient city-wall, the unique monastery & eye-catching stupa, the dominating castle that used to be a heroic battle field against British invaders, are all there waiting. Shigatse, also a city of thousand year’s history, is the second largest city in Tibet, with Panchen Lama’s seat Tashilumpo Monastery sits here as well as the opening of the new railway between Lhasa and Shigatse, this ancient city now plays a more and more important role in Tibet.

Mr. Th*** from: 6 Days Exploration of Legendary Ancient Cities
September 29, 2019 11:20

I would be interested in the 6 Days Exploration of Legendary Ancient Cities for Mach 2020. Do you have such a tour between 23rd and 28th of March? I would also like to do at least one way to Lhasa by train. Do the Tibet traveling permits you organise, such as TTP and PSB also work for that? Or in other words: Could I fly in from somewhere and go back with the train or the other way round?

best regards

Dear Mr. Th***,

Greetings from Nancy at Budget Tibet Tour, thanks for visiting our website and sending your inquiry. We did not know if Tibet will open in March as it closed every year in March, and I just wonder whether you can move your date to 3rd April. In April it will be no problem and also we have someone to book the tour on this date. Normally we will arrange the train back to Lhasa from Shigaste, because we will put the Shigaset group tour to Everest group tour together, and other people will go on the tour to Everest base, and people who just travel to Shigaste will take train back to Lhasa with one of our guides. I will send you the tour details to your email, please check it there. Best regards.
