Detailed Itinerary

Day 1. Arrival and Sightseeing in Nyingchi

Schedule:  Arrive in Nyingchi by plane from Chengdu or Chongqing, your guide and driver will pick you up there at the airport. On the way head to Bayi town, we will visit Lamaling Temple, which is 30km south of Bayi town.About one kilometer before the turning for Lamaling temple, you will pass the small but ancient Gelugpa Monastery of Buchu. Later, they will drive you to visit the Giant Cypress Garden, then rest in Bayi town.

Day 2. Nyingchi-Lulang-Nyingchi(120km, 2-3 hrs driving)

Highlights: Tashigang village, Lulang Forest, Stone-pot Chicken

Schedule: In the morning, we will drive east to Bayi town. A couple of kilometers east of small town of Lulang, is for many travelers a highlight of a trip to this part of eastern Tibet. Framed by forested mountains Tashigang with its pigs and chickens roaming free, is made up of a handful of large stone Tibetan block homes. Which is called the “small Bhutan in Tibet”. Having a good view of Lulang Forest there, then you can have stop in a restaurant for the famous food their Stone-pot chicken, you cannot miss it once you are in Lulang.

Day 3. Nyingchi-Lhasa (490km, 8-9hrs driving)

Highlights: Kading Waterfall, Draksum-sto, Ganden Monastery

Schedule: In the morning, we will head back to Lhasa, on the way, we will visit Kading valley for the waterfall there. Then after viewing the beautiful scenery around the holy Draksum-sto Lake, 3,500 meters above sea level, originates from NychingTanglha Mountain and is a dozen kilometers long. Snow-covered mountains, glaciers and tress are reflected upon the lake's rippled surface. There are small islands in the middle of the lake with Lamaism temples built upon them. Then we will drive back to Lhasa with a detour to Ganden Monastery. On the way, we will drive along the beautiful Yaluzangbu River and valley. Ganden Monastery is the ancestral monastery of the Gelugpa sect, now the most influential sect in the Tibetan Buddhism. With a kora around the Monastery, you will see very good view of Lhasa river valley.

Day 4. Lhasa City Tour

Highlights: Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Street

Schedule today : In the morning, visit the symbol or landmark of Lhasa-Potala Palace, the successive Dalai Lama's winter residence. In the afternoon, visit the center of Tibetan Buddhism-Johkang Temple, where you will come across lots of devoted pilgrimages coming from every corner of Tibet. Both sites are under the list of the world cultural heritages by the UNISCO. Afterwards, you will have your own free time wandering around the Barkchor Street, the oldest bazaar in Tibet.

Day 5. Lhasa City Tour

Highlights: Drepung Monastery, Sera Monastery

Schedule today : In the morning, we will visit Drepung Monastery which is the biggest Tibetan Buddhism College with the biggest number of monks in Tibet. The monastery used to be the winter residence of the Dalai Lama before the 5th Dalai Lama moved his residency to the Potala Palace. And in the afternoon, we will visit another influential Gelugpa Monastery-Sera Monastery, where the largest scale of scripture debating among monks is famous all across Tibet. We will watch the debate session and under the meaning of their gestures with the help your guide.

Day 6. Departure Transfer

Schedule today : Your guide and driver will transfer you to the airport or train station, tour ends.

Hi, I plan to arrive in Lhasa on the 9th of March in 2020 by train and would like to do a 4 day tour. Unfortunately there are no tours scheduled between January and April, will there be tours added or are there not any planned?

While there are several confirmed departure date for the group tour in January and April, if your time is flexible, you may consider joining a group tour in April.
