Heavy snow to hit Tibet

Snow in Tibet

It is known that more heavy snowfalls are forecasted to hit parts of west China, especial the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau for the upcoming days.

The National Meteorological Center (NMC) on Sunday forecasted heavy snow and blizzard in the western areas of Tibet Autonomous Region from Sunday to Wednesday, and light and moderate snow, sleet in western Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region and the provinces of Gansu, Qinghai and Guizhou from Sunday to Monday.

Snowfalls are also expected to hit northeast China's Heilongjiang province and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in the next three days, the NMC said.

The observatory also forecast light and moderate rainfalls in south China at Sunday night, which will bring about temperature drops by four to six degrees Celsius.

Rainfall in south China is expected to cease Monday, it added.

It is necessary to take measures to prevent cold and keep warm in time. If you are walking on your own, you should prepare anti-freezing equipment for warm clothes and quilts, drinking water, dry food, flashlights, fire equipment and traffic equipment. Keep away from billboards, makeshift structures and old trees outside to avoid being stung. Be careful when passing under the bridge, eaves, etc., if necessary, you can bypass the road, so when we go out to enjoy the beautiful scenery, we must first ensure our own safety while enjoying the beautiful sceneries.

Hi, I plan to arrive in Lhasa on the 9th of March in 2020 by train and would like to do a 4 day tour. Unfortunately there are no tours scheduled between January and April, will there be tours added or are there not any planned?

Kind regards

Julian Franz

Hello Mr. Ju***,

Thanks very much for your inquiry. We currently have no group tour in February and March, if you would like to travel Tibet in these months, we are able to arrange a private tour for you. While there are several confirmed departure date for the group tour in January and April, if your time is flexible, you may consider joining a group tour in April. I will send detailed itinerary to your email, please check it. Warm regards.
