Tibet issues Himalayan mountain guide spirit

On 12th of July, 2019, the Tibet mountaineering community celebrated its annual mountaineering guide festival. On that day, the Tibet mountaineering guide association announced “hard-working, professional, help-oriented, solidarity and collaboration, respect for nature, love of life, the motherland first, and scale new heights” as the spirit of Himalayan mountaineering guide, which injecting new content into the Himalayan mountaineering culture.

Mountain guides are professionally trained climbers with extensive mountain experience who are responsible for leading other climbers on commercial mountaineering teams. Generally speaking, in addition to basic climbing skills such as rock climbing and ice climbing, a mountain guide should also master comprehensive knowledge and skills such as mountain first aid, foreign language and mountain history and culture.

In the Himalayas, Chinese Tibetan mountain guides and Nepalese Sherpas are famous world's leading guides.

In 1999, inheriting Tibet’s glorious mountaineering history, the Himalayan mountaineering guide school was established in Lhasa. In 2001, Tibet Shengshan mountaineering and adventure service co.ltd was registered. Since 2008, Chinese folk mountaineering flourished. The guide school and the Shengshan mountaineering company have gradually established a high-altitude mountaineering exploration mode operated by China adventure company and led by Chinese Tibetan guides on the Chinese side of Mount Everest (north slope) , Cho Oyu and Sisha Pangma.

Himalayan Mountain Guide Spirit

The guides provide technical and safety guidance that allows the average climber to approach and even reach the top of a snowy mountain in relative safety. In addition, Chinese mountain guides in Tibet are not only responsible for guide, but also for rescue and environmental protection during the climbing season.

In October 2017, the Tibet mountaineering guide association was established. Association officials said the announcement of the spirit of mountaineering guides, is to inherit the spirit of Chinese mountaineering, but also to further clarify the professional ethics of mountaineering guides, enhance professional identity and pride of guided, and promote Himalayan mountaineering culture.
